Maybe the word "dating" makes you sweat, but it doesn't have to be that way. You see, some people are naturals when it comes to relating to others. You may not be so lucky, but you can learn to identify your behavior (or personality type), and those of your date. Once you learn to identify these different behaviors, it makes it a lot easier to know what to expect.
There are basically 4 different types of personalities. Everyone fits into a combination of these 4 behavior patterns or personality types. The important thing is to be able to identify the types and adjust how you interact with them. This allows you to take the necessary actions to make your date feel more at ease and takes the stress out of the relationship. It also allows you to decide if the person you're dating is right for you or not without any guesswork.
The 4 basic types are: people oriented, task oriented, dominant or easy going. People fall into a combination of these types. You're wondering how knowing these types of personalities are going to help you. Here is an example:
You are the people oriented and easy going type, but your date is the task oriented and easy going type. By knowing how these two types of people behave, you'll be in a better position to know what to expect from them. People oriented and easy going types are very casual and likable people that go out of their way to please others. They are peace makers. When making decisions, they let others make decisions and will rarely turn down requests made to them. They're sometimes perceived by others as having no back-bone because of their complying attitude and lack of initiative.
On the other hand, your date is the task oriented and easy going type. They use a methodical problem solving approach to life. They tend to lean more towards good ideas, complex concepts and intriguing solutions rather than towards feelings. They thrive in situations where they're in an advisory role and relate well to others through information. When it comes to making decisions, their knowledge does not help them; rather it hinders them from making timely decisions.
As you can see from the example above, the people oriented type go out of their way to please others. They're very likeable, whereas the task oriented type doesn't really care about the feeling of others, but lean more toward ideas and concepts. Although these two share a common trait of being easy going, they differ in how they make decisions.
Being able to spot differences in behavior or personality types gives you the advantage in knowing what to expect and understand why your date behaves the way they do.
